Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and has a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, strand by strand, by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a wet cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
