Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs handwoven by the Qashqai nomads, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is rich in natural oils, allowing for effective temperature regulation. Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, one thread at a time, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handweaving. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used for the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon request for shipping
The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
