Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps with temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, made by nomads in Iran meticulously hand-weaving this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, indicating their excellent durability.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.

Daily Care

Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
Please be aware that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.

Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.

If you wish, we can ship your Gabbeh without the pom-poms attached to the corners or in the middle.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
