Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and has a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh, made by meticulously hand-weaving this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their excellent durability.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be placed on the floor, but also hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, dye variations, etc. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
