Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a Gabbeh that you can use for a long time, a special one just for you?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If it gets dirty: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry it in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, uneven weaving, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
