Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat sensation.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is an original, unique piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weave, and dye. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
