Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in nomadic life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses superior durability to survive the harsh conditions of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is rich in natural oils for effective thermoregulation.
Gabbehs are made by Iranian nomads who hand-dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously weave each strand by hand, resulting in a soft and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are known for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from regions with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them comfortable even in hot weather.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a wrung-out towel. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape, pattern, and variations in weaving and dye. Please understand that these are part of the unique charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment

The pom-poms attached to the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
