Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool as a fundamental part of their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural oil for temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Gabbeh rugs, when tightly woven, are highly durable and are said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls as art, not just laid on floors.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For気になる汚れの場合:中性洗剤(毛・絹用)を水で薄め、かたく絞ったタオル等で表面をやさしく拭いてください。その後丁寧に水拭きして、洗剤を拭きとってから風通しの良い日陰で乾かしてください。stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms on the corners or edges of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
