Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, adept at regulating body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Points to Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and variations in dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
