Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, its artistry stands out. Gabbeh, created imaginatively by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but also as art to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt using a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request before shipping
If requested, the pom-poms at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for the pom-poms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
