Characteristics of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh are hand-woven, long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture, rich in natural oils, which helps with temperature regulation.
Gabbeh woven by Iranian nomads, who meticulously hand-dye this wool with natural dyes and weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are renowned for their exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original and unique item, with no two being exactly alike.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
Please be aware that this odor will gradually dissipate with use.

Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
