Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made by these Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug. If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and color variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a unique odor from the wool dyes may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
