Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variat wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh conditions of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural oil for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, making Gabbeh known for its fluffy and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but they are also beautiful enough to be hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with water to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortions, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
