Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture with high oil content that helps regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing discomfort from heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. The designs on Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping.
The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for the pompoms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
