Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The sheep's wool used in this product, known as Persian Valiant, possesses superior durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, woven by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Firmly woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling even in heat. And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be used on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh rug, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
