Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, made from naturally dyed wool with long piles. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel due to its high oil content, which helps with temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, when tightly woven, are highly durable and are said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For persistent dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. Please note that this odor will gradually dissipate with use.
