Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil for effective temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who carefully hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created by the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
