Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using naturally dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a high amount of natural oils to help the sheep regulate their body temperature and survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, giving it excellent durability. The Gabbeh, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, is characterized by its plush and comfortable texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is so durable that it is said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing them from feeling hot. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If cleaning is needed: dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used to color the wool. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment

The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
