Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature well, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch wool. The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their excellent durability. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and airy in summer, with the characteristic of not feeling hot. And, above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If concerned about stains: dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
