Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Varied wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, developed for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel, containing a high amount of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can also be removed for shipping
The pompoms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
