Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives and are made from vegetable-dyed wool with long piles. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to withstand the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin for excellent thermoregulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads one by one with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Gabbeh rugs, which are tightly woven, boast exceptional durability, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
