Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic people living in Iran's Zagros Mountains. They are hand-woven from wool dyed with natural dyes and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product comes from sheep that have adapted to the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possessing excellent durability for survival and soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers rich in lanolin to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one by one, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
