Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, one thread at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Gabbeh rugs that are tightly woven are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing overheating.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh that will last you a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used for the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
If requested, we can ship the Gabbeh without the pom-poms located on the corners and in the middle.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
