Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, made from vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of fat to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering comfort even in hot weather. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry it in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool. This smell will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
