Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs, rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed upon request
The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed if requested at the time of order. Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish for the pompoms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
