Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who are nomadic herders in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oil to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And of course, there's the artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-weaving process, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping.
The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
