Features of Persian hand-woven Gabbeh rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They use vegetable-dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural oil for temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on this wool, are characterized by their soft and fluffy feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their durability, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering comfort even in hot weather. And, above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed as art on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique smell from the wool dyes. This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping
If requested, the pom-poms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery. Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish for the pom-poms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
