Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, naturally-dyed wool rugs woven by hand by the Qashqai nomads inhabiting the Zagros Mountains in Iran, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, enabling it to withstand the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high fat content for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, crafted from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness. And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, creatively imagined by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique and original one-of-a-kind item. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall. Why not find a special Gabbeh that will last you for years to come?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
