Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last up to 100 years. Gabbeh, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on walls as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool, which may produce a unique odor from the dyes. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of it beforehand.
Pompoms can also be removed before shipping.
The pompoms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
