Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadic graze in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation. These Gabbeh, hand-woven by Iranian nomads strand by strand after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture. Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as inconsistencies in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Tassels can be removed before shipping.
The tassels attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the tassels will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
