Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-piled, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and features a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils that allow for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, with this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing the feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique original, with no two being alike.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but can also be displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilventilated shaded area.
Points to note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as inconsistencies in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the unique charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
