Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, strand by strand, using wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing overheating.
And above all, their artistic quality is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
