Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-feeling texture contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each thread by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs that you can use forever—why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to hand-weaving, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
