Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from the climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be slight distortions in shape and pattern, as well as irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping
The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
