Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective temperature regulation. These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also suitable for hanging on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
