Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are long-pile rugs, rooted in daily life, and made from plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on this wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be slight distortions in shape and pattern, as well as inconsistencies in weaving and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
