Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, along with a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh rug is meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their durability, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item. They can be placed on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to their hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern distortion, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Tassels can be removed upon request
The tassels attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping upon your request.
Removing the tassels does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for your order to be shipped without tassels, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
