Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft texture rich in natural oils, which helps with temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Carefully woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing them from feeling hot. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, and variations in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
