Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel, rich in lanolin for effective temperature regulation.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbehs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are not only perfect for laying on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping
The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
