Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high fat content for effective temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs are made from this wool, dyed with natural dyes, and carefully hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, resulting in a soft and fluffy texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike, making each one an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as inconsistencies in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
