Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are hand-woven rugs by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using these naturally dyed wools, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool sensation. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for many years to come?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
