Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils, which helps regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Gabbeh that are tightly woven are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please note that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
