Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, uneven weaving, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used to color the wool.
Please note that the smell will gradually dissipate with use.
