Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs are made by hand-weaving this wool, dyed with natural dyes, by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, resulting in their characteristic fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

The pompoms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
