Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who weave them by hand in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils to effectively regulate body temperature. Dyed with natural dyes, each Gabbeh is meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed on a wall as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever?
