Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomadic tribe, who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture with abundant oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in a fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, offering a cool feel.
And, above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
