Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed sheep's wool. These long-piled rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on this wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable they are said to last 100 years. Created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering comfort even in hot weather. And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, crafted from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original and unique item. They can be used on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be slight distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please note that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. Please be aware that this odor will gradually dissipate with use.
Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment
The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
