Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made with plant-dyed wool and featuring a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven with this wool meticulously dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, providing a cool sensation. And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original item with no two alike. They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then air dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present. The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed upon request.
The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment. Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
