Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads who graze their flocks in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps with body temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, making it incredibly durable. Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And of course, there's the artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be used on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its hand-woven nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please note that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
