Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
These Gabbeh rugs, dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, giving a cool feeling.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but can also be displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dust and dirt along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
